But if you do have issues, just get out from under it while you can. The processing blocks appear as VST/AU plug-ins and RTAS including an authentic SSL channel strip with filters, E and G series EQ and dynamics processing and the SSL buss compressor. If you have no problems, you will LOVE it. Duende PCIe offers complete integration into the most popular workstation environments on a fast MAC/PC compatible PCIe card. Also, SSL is less generous than UAD (if you are any familiar with), so far NO PROMOTIONS, NO DISCOUNTS, NO VOUCHERS.

But make sure you can return it within 15 or 30 days for a FULL refund. I tried to bring it up with SSL regarding their actual market ethics ,because their new Duende PCIe card INCLUDES the stereo bus compressor and not our Duende Mini, they ask something like £200 for that tiny compressor bitch. So I tell folks, sure, go ahead and get it. Now, the thing is, there are some users, with FW peripherals, who are reporting no problems. Other FW devices like Liquid Mix or Powercore played nice with other devices, why wouldn't Duende? Two updates later, and it never got better.

It was my contention, as well as many others who were having identical problems, that the Duende drivers just weren't written well. Life in my little DAW world was solid before Duende, and is solid after it as well. I decided I didn't need Duende THAT much. But after months of trouble shooting, tech support phone calls, emails, etc. When Duende was the only device on my system, it worked great. All three models connect to the host computer’s FireWire 400 bus. I havent personally used all of these (Protools HD, UAD 1 and 2, Powercore I am familiar with) but most DSP based stuff is pretty decent high end plugin wise. Duende comes in three models: the original single-rackspace unit, Duende PCIe and Duende Mini, the new -rackspace unit. UAD, Powercore, SSL Duende (pci version), Liquid Mix etc all have DSP powered technology and Pyramix Masscore and Mykerinos cards.

In my case, I already had and used several external FW drives for samples, a FW interface, An AES-16 Digital PCI card and a UAD-1 PCI card. Solid State Logic’s X-Comp is the latest plug-in for Duende, the company’s external DSP unit. I am selling because I no longer have a desktop computer for my recording setup so unfortunately can no longer use. This card is in Mint condition and is working perfectly. What ever else is sharing that particular buss, whether it's an audio interface, and external drive, or even with a PCI FW card, it's performance can be jeopardized. I'm the original owner of this SSL Duende PCIe card system. Best software EQ's I've ever heard, hands down.īut, Duende is a firewire device, and it HOGS firewire bandwidth.

Integrate your setup with the Duende PCIe PCIe is a high bandwidth, half length, full height slot-in PCIe card that works in both PCs and Macs. I tried using Duende for 5 months, but in the end, decided it just wasn't worth it.
